Master of Laws

Girne American University has established two degree programmes of LLM (Master of Laws) for those students that have earned an undergraduate law degree from an accredited university.

The typical student will take 18 months to complete the programme. This will cover three academic semesters plus an optional summer session. A normal academic graduate student load is three courses per semester and three in the summer. A part-time programme is available.

The LLM without thesis requires 12 courses.

The LLM with thesis requires 10 courses (or 30 credit hours) plus a full thesis of at least 5,000 words.

Students may start LLM 520 in their second or third semesters and as overload. The LLM 520 (Master’s Thesis) can be carried over two semesters.

LLM 501 may be taken as a single combined course with LLM 503 for those students deemed to have excellent English. Otherwise both courses must be taken separately.
